How should I structure bulk HTV pricing?

Three to four tiers is typical: single/retail price, a 10-plus tier at 5% off, 25-plus at 10% off, 50-plus at 15% off. Over 100 shirts, 20% off keeps margin intact if your base retail has 60%+ margin. Tiers above 20% discount usually mean you are giving up too much.

What if a team wants a four-color design at bulk price?

Add extra layers in the HTV calculator first. Multi-color designs already have higher material and weeding cost, so the bulk discount applies on top of a higher base retail. Realized margin stays healthy as long as your base pricing was right.

Why does the calculator show realized margin?

Accepted Answer

Because a 20% bulk discount on a 60% base margin leaves 40% realized. Knowing the after-discount margin prevents you from giving too deep a discount on thin-margin items like onesies or light-color garments with multi-color designs.

Should I quote batch total or per-unit?

Accepted Answer

Both. Most buyers anchor on per-unit ("how much per shirt?") but pay on batch total. Give them per-unit for the conversation, quote the batch total on the invoice. The calculator shows both at every tier.

When do corporate orders expect bulk pricing?

Accepted Answer

At 12 or more shirts, most corporate buyers expect a discount. 25+ is where they actively negotiate. If they are not asking by 25, you can often hold retail. If they are asking at 10, politely quote the 5% tier and move on.

How do I handle rush orders on top of bulk?

Accepted Answer

Bulk tier applies to the base price. Rush surcharge applies after, typically 15% to 25% on top. Add it to the per-unit price and explain it in the quote. Do not bury it as a separate line the buyer can argue away.

Does this work for screen print pricing?

Accepted Answer

Not exactly. Screen printing has setup fees (screen creation, ink mixing) that apply per color, plus per-shirt runs. Use this HTV calculator only for HTV, vinyl, and sublimation bulk. Screen print deserves its own calc.

Can I customize the tier discount percentages?

The calculator uses fixed tier breaks at 5, 10, 15, 20 percent. If your shop uses different tiers, calculate per-tier manually using the base retail output. Future update will add editable tiers.
