Writing process

Every calculator page and guide is assigned to a named author. Authors draft from their own experience and notes, verify every external fact against a primary source, and list the source in a footnote. The editor (Maya for sublimation and Etsy, Dana for Cricut and HTV) reviews before publish.

Calculator construction

Formulas live as pure TypeScript functions in a shared library, separated from the UI. Every formula has unit tests for five representative scenarios. Assumptions (for example, ink cost per print, Etsy fee percentages) are documented on the methodology page with dated citations.

Review cycle

We review every calculator’s inputs and assumptions every 90 days. The review date and next-review date are visible on each calculator. Changes that affect outputs are logged in the methodology changelog.

Source standards

Facts about fees, shipping, and product availability cite primary sources. Etsy fee numbers come from Etsy’s fees page, USPS rates come from USPS, manufacturer numbers come from the manufacturer. We do not cite other calculator sites.

Correction policy

If you find an error, email us at hello@craftermargin.com. We aim to verify and correct within 48 hours, and we log material corrections in the methodology changelog.

AI use

We use AI tools to draft, research, and edit. Every piece is reviewed, rewritten where needed, and signed off by a named human author. We do not publish autogenerated content under a real-person byline without that human review.

Separation from revenue

Ads and affiliate commissions do not affect rankings, recommendations, or what we test next. See our disclosure.
