HTV pricing lives or dies on two numbers: how fast you can weed and how cheap your vinyl is. The calculator below factors both, plus garment cost, design time amortization across a batch, and machine wear. Works for Cricut, Silhouette, or any cut-and-press setup.
Adult tees, kids tees, onesies, hoodies, sweatshirts. Standard HTV, glitter, holographic, pattern, Cricut Everyday, ThermoFlex. Single-color through 5-layer designs. Pick a preset, override the numbers for your shop, and your per-shirt price updates live.
Step 1 of 4: Garment

Standard HTV is about $3/yd. Glitter and holographic run $5 to $8.
yd
About 0.3 yards per full-size adult tee design.
Multi-color designs stack. Each extra layer adds about 50% of base vinyl cost.
Step 1 of 4
Quick answer
For a single adult HTV tee at a 60% margin, expect $22 to $32 retail. For a bulk order of 12, expect $15 to $22 per shirt. Glitter and holographic vinyls add $3 to $6 compared to standard HTV.
How to use this calculator
Pick the garment and vinyl. The preset chips auto-fill typical yardage and vinyl cost. Override the garment cost with your actual supplier price.
Enter time per unit. Design time is for the whole batch; weeding and press are per shirt. Round up to be honest with yourself.
Set quantity. For bulk orders, this is the batch size. Design time amortizes across every shirt in the batch.
Pick a margin. 60% is the floor for retail HTV. 70% is common for custom and small-batch. Bulk drops to 45% to 55% because your per-unit labor is lower.
Three real scenarios
Single-color adult tee
Adult polyester tee at $5.50. 0.3 yards of Siser EasyWeed at $3 per yard equals $0.90 in vinyl. 15 minutes of design, 5 minutes of weeding, 3 minutes to press. Hourly rate $25. Machine wear $0.40. Total cost lands near $11.20 for a single shirt. At a 60% margin, recommended is $17.92. Bump to 70% margin for true one-off custom and you are at $19.04.
Bulk of 12 adult tees
Same garment at a lower bulk price of $4.50. 15 minutes of design once across the whole batch. 4 minutes of weeding, 3 minutes of press per shirt. Design cost per shirt drops to $0.52. Labor per shirt is $3.43. Total per-shirt cost is near $9.30. At a 55% margin, recommended is $14.42 per shirt. Total batch price $173 for 12 shirts, versus $215 if you priced each like a single. The coach gets a fair deal and you still make a clean margin.
Glitter onesie
Onesie blank at $3.50. 0.2 yards of Siser Glitter at $5 per yard equals $1 in vinyl. Glitter HTV weeds slower, so 6 minutes of weeding. 12 minutes of design for the new baby name. Hourly rate $25. Total cost near $10.70. Glitter items tolerate higher margin than standard HTV because they feel premium. At 65%, recommended is $17.66. Baby-shower listings at this price consistently convert for sellers in our survey.

What to do if your number looks off
Single-shirt price over $30. Check your weeding time. Over 10 minutes is usually the driver. If the design genuinely needs 15 minutes to weed, the price reflects that honestly.
Bulk price per shirt is higher than single. You probably did not lower your bulk garment cost. Bulk suppliers typically charge 10% to 25% less than single-unit pricing.
Margin warning fires. Raise the vinyl cost per yard to match what you actually pay, or increase the target margin. 55% is a floor on bulk, 60% on single.
You sell on Etsy. After getting the price, run it through the Etsy fee calculator to confirm it survives the fee stack.
