Tumbler Turner ROI Calculator

Written by Maya Reeves. Reviewed 2026-04-21.

A tumbler turner is one of the cheapest upgrades in the shop. Even a $70 basic model usually pays back in a few weeks if you sell more than 20 tumblers a month. This calculator shows the exact payback point and year-one profit uplift.

Works for single-cup, multi-cup, and pro rotator models. Just enter turner cost, how many tumblers you run with and without, and profit per tumbler.

Use the recommended price minus cost from the tumbler calculator.

Quick answer

A $70 single-cup turner lifting output from 15 to 40 tumblers a month at $6 profit each pays back in under 4 weeks. A $180 multi-cup from 20 to 80 at $8 profit pays back in under 1 month. A $450 pro rotator at 30 to 150 at $10 profit pays back in 5 weeks.

How to use this calculator

  1. Turner cost. What you are thinking of buying.
  2. Tumblers/mo without. Your current hand-cure output.
  3. Tumblers/mo with. Realistic output with hands-free curing.
  4. Profit per tumbler. From the tumbler calculator (recommended - cost).
  5. Read payback. Months until the turner pays for itself.

Three real scenarios

Basic single-cup turner

$70 turner. Without: 15 tumblers/mo (limited by hand-curing time). With: 40/mo (overnight cures). $6 profit each. Monthly uplift $150. Payback 0.47 months, or about 2 weeks. Year-one after payback: $1,725. First upgrade most tumbler makers should make.

Multi-cup turner

$180 turner, 4-cup capacity. Without: 20/mo. With: 80/mo. $8 profit each. Monthly uplift $480. Payback 0.38 months, about 11 days. Year-one after payback: $5,580. The scale breakpoint upgrade.

Pro rotator for full-time shop

$450 multi-station rotator. Without: 30/mo (already running a basic turner). With: 150/mo. $10 profit. Monthly uplift $1,200. Payback 0.38 months, about 11 days. Year-one after payback: $13,950. Only worth it at true full-time volume.

What goes into the price

Monthly uplift = (tumblers with turner - tumblers without) times profit per tumbler. Payback months = turner cost / monthly uplift. Year-one after payback = (12 months - payback months) times monthly uplift. Simple division, no hidden factors.

Reference: typical turners

Common tumbler turner models and capacity, reviewed 2026-04-21.
Turner typePriceCapacity
DIY single-cup$25-$401 cup
Basic single-cup$60-$1001 cup
Dual-cup$120-$1502 cups
Multi-cup$150-$2804 cups
Pro 6-8 station$300-$5006-8 cups
Commercial rotator$500-$9008+ cups

What to do if your number looks off

  • Payback over 12 months. Your output uplift estimate is too small. Most sellers at least double output with a basic turner.
  • Profit per tumbler under $3. Raise tumbler prices first. Then calculate turner ROI.
  • No output lift. Check the output numbers. “With turner” should be at least 2x “without”.
  • Payback seems too fast. Good. Turners are high-ROI upgrades. Under 2 months is normal.
